I’ve made it safe and sound. Feeling a little upset and exhausted but I’m here and now the proud owner of 2 Indian outfits. I’ll update when I’m not so tired and sad. I miss everyone! I know it will be okay. India itself is very exciting, I’m just nervous because I feel like I won’t make any friends and nobody likes me and my placement is sounding a little intimidating.
The beginning is always the hardest, I know.
Amy,
What kind of candy do they have in India? Can you please bring one for me? I miss you. Love, Elliot
Sweetheart, I know EXACTLY how you feel. And it really does get better. But at first you’re lonely and nervous and tired and sad and longing for the familiarties of home. But know that you’ll get so much out of it and make amazing friends and fall in love with your kids and own way more than 2 indian outfits. Hang in there. It always gets better.
Hey Amy!
So Mary just told me about your trip to India, and first of all, you’re going to have an amazing time. I went to India 2ish years ago, and it was one of the best experiences of my life. I went to Dharamsala and helped out in a kindergarten/preschool, which I hear you’re going to do. Anyway, we know a lot of people in India, should you need a contact, and if you end up going to the same preschool I worked at, a very close friend of ours is a teacher there and I could put you in touch with her. Have an amazing time! And be careful of the street food, but don’t let that stop you from trying something if it looks safe. Oh, and eat some mangoes. The mangoes in India are just like candy.
Lily
P.S. Just in case you don’t know who this is, it’s Lily from summer camp all those many years ago.
